Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and in the past few years I’ve been doing my part by making the pecan pie. Having moved from the East Coast to Texas, my love of pecans has grown exponentially — as a nut as well as in dessert form. Of course I made this pie using Texas pecans from a Texan store – Central Market.
The recipe I use is sourced from AllRecipes.com and I usually add in a few semi-sweet chocolate chips for good measure. I also usually celebrate the start of vacation with a good glass of wine. Tonight I dipped into a Chenin Blanc I’d saved from a trip to Becker Vineyards this summer. It’s a great vineyard and a great day trip to Hill Country Texas — highly recommended!
I love this recipe because it’s very quick and easy to make – particularly if you’re lazy like me and buy pre-made pie crust. All the different cut-up pecan sizes make a nice crunch and the pecan halves on top make you look like a master baker. Try out the recipe on my Snapguide page.
